Concealed Pistol License (CPL) Fees

$115 (new and renewal)

We accept cash, check/money order and credit/debit cards for payment.

Please note: You no longer need to bring photos with you to apply for a CPL. The software now uses your driver’s license photo for your permit.

If you do not have a digital photograph on file with the Michigan Secretary of State, however, you will need to bring a passport quality photograph with you at the time of application.

If you would like to check your Criminal History prior to applying, you can go to the Michigan State Police website and use ICHAT (Michigan State Police Internet Criminal History Access Tool). Please note, there are fees associated with this tool.

For instructions on how to use that tool, download and view the How to Use ICHAT (pdf).

Fingerprinting Hours

All new applicants and all re-applicants (those previously holding a CPL that has expired more than one year ago) will need to be fingerprinted.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. and
1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Two things to remember about getting your fingerprints done:

  1. It is not safe to bring children with you to have your fingerprints done. They are not allowed in the fingerprinting area and there is no one to watch them in the Sheriff’s Office.
  2. The Jail can be a very busy place and there are times when circumstances do not allow for fingerprinting to be done.  If you are traveling any distance to come get your prints done you may want to call prior to leaving to be sure you can have them done that day.  The phone number is (231) 873-2121.
