Recreational Education

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is proud to offer recreational education courses including Hunter Education and Boater Safety.

Course Dates

Hunter Education Field Day (Two Classes)

To be announced…We aim to hold a course in the spring at the end of the school year and closer to the fall.  The spring field day is usually at Grace Adventures in Silver Lake and the fall field day is at the Ruby Creek Conservation Club.

We no longer offer in person classes.  The coursework can be completed on-line or home self study.  If you choose to complete it on-line we highly recommend using  the  I Learn To Hunt website.  This website has a much better user experience than others that may show up in your web browser or linked on other official websites.

Summer Boater Safety (Two Classes)

July 7th & 8th, 8am-12noon, Pentwater Yacht Club.  Attendance required both days.

August 11th & 12th, 8am-12noon, Pentwater Yacht Club.  Attendance required both days.

Registration for boater safety class will be posted May 1, 2026 for July class and June 1, 2026 for August class:  Boater Safety Education
