A notary public is appointed by the state government to serve as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents, administer oaths, and oversee acknowledgements.
Becoming a Notary
To become a Notary Public, you must be 18 years of age or older, a resident of Oceana County. You must also complete the Michigan Notary Public Application and return it to the County Clerk’s office along with a $10,000 surety bond.
Notary Public Application Fees
You must pay a $10 application fee to the State of Michigan as well as a $10 fee to the County Clerk.
