Oceana County Contracts with CodeRED to Provide Emergency Notification ServicesPosted:
(Oceana County, Mich. – April 4, 2019) Following a thorough evaluation and review of alerting systems, Oceana County has implemented CodeRED, a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by Ormond Beach, FL-based OnSolve, LLC.
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the Oceana County emergency planning and communications outreach to citizens of Oceana County. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, and e-mails to inform residents to better protect life and property. CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s wide spread adoption rates across the U.S.
“CodeRED’s robust notification system will provide Oceana County officials with a reliable, easy-to-use interface to quickly deliver critical information to our citizens during emergencies. We are eager to use this innovative technology to enhance our emergency preparedness plans,” said Emergency Manager James Duram. We anticipate using the system to notify residents of emergency road closures, floods, drinking water emergencies and missing children notices.
OnSolve has provided the Oceana County an initial database of residential and business telephone numbers; however all residents living within Oceana County limits are encouraged to visit https://oceana.mi.us/government/departments/emergency-management and click on the CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment page to enroll their contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email addresses. No one should automatically assume they are in the emergency contact database.
For any additional questions you may have on CodeRED please contact the Oceana County Emergency Management Department at (231) 873-4473.
