2015 Michigan Residential Building Code becomes effective February 8, 2016
Permit Application Expiration – An application for a permit for any proposed work shall be deemed to have been abandoned 180 days after the date of filing unless such application has been pursued in good faith or a permit has been issued; except that the building official is authorized to grant one or more extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding 180 days each. The extension shall be requested in writing and justifiable cause demonstrated.
An issued permit will be cancelled when no inspection is requested and conducted within 180 days of the date of issuance or the date of a previous inspection. Two individual (no fee) extensions can be granted when requested in writing. Once the extensions are used a paid renewal will be required. Cancelled permits cannot be refunded or reinstated.
Effective 10/01/2010, the Inspection Department will be open 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, Monday – Friday excluding holidays. Every effort will be made to keep the office open in the afternoons from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. as well.
